Fund an Editor - Chinese Medicine Foundation Text
Donation protected
BACKGROUND:
The knowledge and skills of Chinese medicine that have become available in the last 40+ years through English language teachers and English language books and publications requires a fundamental re-write and upgrading of Chinese medicine education.
I am writing a foundational text, synthesizing 25 years of Chinese medical knowledge, 19 years as a licensed acupuncturist, and 40 years in the field of biological sciences, medicine and healthcare activism. The working title of the text is "Guidance on the Way of Chinese Medicine." This reflects the Daoist influences which have guided Chinese medicine practitioners for 2,800 years.
I am composing this "Foundation of Chinese Medicine" text book at my personal expense, which means — for free! — as a labor of love. The book will likely be self-published, given the niche state of publishing in Chinese medicine in the English-speaking world. I have made inquiries with publishers, but since COVID, all activities are stalled.
FUNDING GOAL:
What I need to fund is an editor who will work with me and counterpose concepts and ideas about this new formulation of how to teach Chinese medicine to nascent students. Any money this campaign raises will go to paying for my editor.
I have completed 3 major sections of the text, and have a 4th to write still. Therefore, the goal is to produce a final draft by 2022. The book will probably top 500 pages. Unlike similar textbooks used in Chinese medicine schools (which are out of date by 30 years at this point!), my text is filled with full color graphics demonstrating the many abstract concepts Chinese medical theory puts forth.
I will be ready for the editorial phase of the text by the early spring of 2021, about 4 months from now.
NECESSITY and PLEA:
As a Chinese medicine teacher, I cannot stress enough how the basic fundamental concepts of Chinese medicine need to be presented in a logical and practitioner-oriented method that makes sense of the original presentation of Chinese medicine before the Communist Era simplified and westernized this beautiful medicine. I have been teaching for 12 years in New York City, and comprehend well the inadequacies that need to be shored up in my world of education.
The alleviation of suffering, of pain, of mysterious illness, of anguish, depression and fright are all accomplished efficiently and rapidly with Chinese medicine's acupuncture and herbs. There are many great services humans offer humans. Healing and solace are one service at the top of the hill, and my goal is to help produce wise and skilled practitoners of a beautiful and harm-free medical tradtion.
