Advenchair
Hi, I’m Robert Kapen. 10 years ago, while working at a camp for disabled people, I contracted an unknown virus that went to my brain stem and caused a bilateral stroke. I was the only one that contracted it at the whole camp. doctors still haven't found a diagnosis.
It left everything from my neck down paralyzed. Thank God it didn’t affect my memory and body sensations. Previously in life; I was athletic, out-going, and an outdoorsy type. So, learning how to move and live in my new body has been a long and difficult uphill battle but now I have my sights on something really big to get that rush and excitement again.
Machu Picchu! My wife is from Peru, so it has always been a bucket list item to go. I never thought it could be a reality until now seeing great gains in body function and finding a new rugged off-road chair called AdvenChair [advenchair.com ] and it is relatively 10 to 12 thousand dollars depending on what attachments I need to make the chair better fit me. I'm looking to rent the chair in hopes to buy it. July 15-17 I'm going to go to Oregon to test the chair. and I will be going to Peru the first week of August. i know a little time crunch. but realitivly speaking we are moving fast because our paths with the creator of the chair didn't cross till last week. hence why the gofundme seems so delayed, it's not, its just the timing everything.
Machu Picchu will be my next adventure and with the chair, I would be able to consolidate from two chairs which would be too much for an international trip, to a manageable one chair I can use for most if not all situations. Not to get too far ahead of myself but by getting this chair it opens a door that I have closed, locked, and forgotten about after becoming paralyzed. This goes beyond Machu Picchu. With it, I can get out in nature again with nelly. With plans to explore and actually hike the northwest. This chair brings me the confidence to explore the great outdoors. For a person like me, that’s life-changing. I love nature.
Oh, the places I could experience!
So, I ask if you can prayerfully and expediantly consider giving to help fund a step towards my dreams!
