AEMT Class 01 EMS Amerika Samoa

Donation protected
Greetings everyone!!!

To all who don’t know me, my name is Fangupo Tafoki. I’m a Hospital Corpsman Veteran with about 8 years of experience in the United States Navy and Im currently working in EMS Amerika Samoa as a NREMT. Since the beginning of my employment in EMS, I’ve passed the EMT basic course, passed the NREMT exam, became BLS provider/instructor, and have taken initiative to help improve the department. Since my passing of the NREMT exam, I’ve pushed others and helped to pursue the same. In total, including myself, have 5 NREMTs certified. In result, we have 80% passing rate in American Samoa alone over the US with the passing rate about 66%. We are also the only place in the South Pacific who have NREMT certified personnel. So now, my coworkers and I are currently taking the AEMT course on island with the help of Kapiolani Community College from Hawaii to pursue the next level of prehospital care such as BLS and ALS. We will also be taking the NREMT exam afterwards so we can be certified and first to be licensed in EMS history. To give you a picture of how it is on the island, picture calling for an ambulance and when it shows up, you notice that they have little to none to provide prehospital care. Such as no AEDs, no monitors, unit has surpassed the need for maintenance, old equipment, basically just nothing to work with except improvisation. We result to whatever we can afford out of our pockets such as buying our own blood pressure cuff sets, stethoscope, medical bags, etc. We actually only have stuff for First Aid and barely BLS stuff. Such as gauze, bandages, abd pads, c collars, OPAs, BVMs, etc. So we are doing a fundraiser to raise money to purchase supplies and equipment of our own. The money will go to the purchase of medical bags, blood pressure cuff sets, stethoscopes, pulse oximeters, glucometers, thermometers, and medical supplies to have in our arsenal so we can be prepared to any calls and give the upmost care. If you decide to donate other than money such as equipment or supplies, that will be fine too. Just message me via FB/IG/or email. The amount is just a start but the more we raise, the more we can get for, not only just us, but for our department as well. Buying uniforms, buying medical bags and supplies for our units, etc. So I’m calling out to my family, friends, my military family, and most of all, the most decorated rate in the Navy, The Hospital Corps, to please assist me in helping build this department up to the standards it’s supposed be for the better care of the people of American Samoa. Anything is very much appreciated Manuia lou aso!!! God Bless!!!

Very Respectfully,
Fangupo Tafoki, NREMT/RMA/NCPT
