Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Co. Big Give
Donation protected
My name is Sequoia, I am an eighth-grader at NCCL School in Newark, DE. Our school is doing a project called The Big Give, where each student is given fifty dollars and asked to make a difference with the money. Our goal is to do more than simply donate the money but to try to make it grow, use it to purchase needed items, raise awareness, and get others involved to help us.
I went to Fire Station Number 9 in Newark Delaware with my family. There, one of the administrative people, who had been there for 40 years, walked us through the station and showed us where they train and eat and the bay where they keep the fire trucks. While he was talking to us, he explained how at some point they would need to update/upgrade to a facility that could be more accommodating to the women on their team. He also explained that compared to how things were when he was younger, a lot less of their team are volunteers, and more of the workers are paid now. It used to be a volunteer-run facility and now they are in need of more funds to continue to function at the level that's demanded. I want to help them in any way I can to help them progress with their work and outstanding service to Newark and the surrounding areas.
In 2021, Aetna had 51 working alarms, 22 entrapments, 3250 fire calls, and 9758 EMS calls. They help so many people. On their website, Aetna has a public pdf of their income and expenses. Emergency work is expensive and every penny helps.
100% of all money raised will be donated to Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Co. in support of all their hard work and projects in the future.
