Stephanie’s Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Have you ever looked up to someone your whole life? That’s Stephanie for me. Ever since I was little we have been inseparable. From summers with our grandparents to dance recitals we always had a special bond. Our grandfather would call us his pollitos as we had the blonde hair of the bunch. A cousin by name but a sister by heart.
Let me tell you about Stephanie… She’s a baddie. She’s a mother of 3 crazy kids who I love so much, a daughter, a granddaughter, a wife, a friend, a sister and everything in between.
She has always been gorgeous and if she walks in a room all eyes were on her and still are. Confidence exudes from her. She is a warrior. Stephanie has always had thick skin and never lets you know when something is wrong. The matriarch of the family after our abuela of course.
Unfortunately, this December she was faced with the toughest battle yet, Breast Cancer. To see her so vulnerable has been the hardest thing to see. I know it hasn’t been easy for her to admit she needs help. But I assure her that she is not fighting alone.
Her kids all under 13 are having to grow up so fast and they don’t even know it. I stood across from her and when she tried to rationalize why me? Her response was that God chose her.
Our Abuela had a lumpectomy in 2018 and boy oh boy that old lady fought the good fight and is cancer free.
We thought when the doctor told Stephanie the news, it would be the same. However, Stephanie will be having a mastectomy this coming year of 2022 it might be a double mastectomy, but I will let you know.
As if 2020 and 2021 wasn’t tough enough for all of us we already know 2022 will have added challenges. Her surgery isn’t scheduled yet but we know it will be for sometime in January. As you know from diagnosis through surgery and recovery will add hardship to her family emotionally, physically, and financially. I want to make sure finances aren’t an added stress.
Even with insurance the medical bills are already piling up and her not working as much is hurting her financially. She will be out of work at least a month for recovery.
Please donate what you can and if you can’t please just say a prayer for her.
In this family no one fights alone. I love you Stephy!
Cancer is only a chapter in your life, it’s not your story!
