Hello everyone. Some of you may or may not know Craig Barnes. Craig serves on the Lynwood, IL Police Department and was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Iowa on Saturday, June 14th, 2014 while on a trip with friends and fellow officers. He has suffered multiple fractures to his skull, face and ribs, as well damage to the lining of his lungs and is on a breathing machine. He has had surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain and there may be more injuries according to the treating doctors but won’t know until they get the most serious issues addressed first.
Soon, Craig will need to be airlifted from the University of Iowa Hospital to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago to receive further neurological treatment that Northwestern can provide. However, the insurance will not cover the $10,000 airlift cost. To help with the cost and to provide support for his family going forward, we are humbly asking for donations.
Craig is from Highland, IN originally and now lives in Burns Harbor, IN. He is married to his wife Jennifer and has four children, Kyle, Zach, Jake and step-son, Lou. Kyle graduated from Chesterton HS last year and was accepted into the United States Air Force last fall, following in Craig’s footsteps. Zach, who has Muscular Dystrophy, will be attending Ball State University this year, Jake will be a sophomore this year at Chesterton HS and Lou, a star athlete, will be a freshman at Chesterton HS as well.
Craig is also a devoted son (Craig’s father, Larry Barnes, is a retired police officer from Highland, IN), brother, uncle, nephew and dear friend to many people and fellow police officers in Northwest Indiana and the south suburbs of Chicago, IL. As well as the Air Force Special Police, Air Marshall, Customs and Railroad Police, he has served on several local police departments including; Highland, IN, Burnham, IL, Porter, IN, Burns Harbor, IN and currently Lynwood, IL.
Craig has selflessly served his country and its citizens and has been there to help family and friends whenever they needed it. Now, he desperately needs our help in his time of need. Any help will be greatly and humbly appreciated. May God bless you all.
