Welcome
My name is Soha Abu Warda (Abu Marzouq).
I am of Palestinian origin. I hold Canadian citizenship. I live in Canada (Ontario). I am here helping my family get out of Gaza to reach a safe place. They number 10 people. The situation is as follows:
After the bombing of our house located in the central area (the city of Al-Zahra), it was a large house and included all my sisters and brothers, their wives, and the grandchildren of my father and mother.
When the house was bombed, there were 50 displaced people inside it, in addition to my family. The house was completely destroyed, two of the displaced people were martyred, and my sister was seriously injured as a result of her being removed after two hours from among the stones of the house.
After that, they went to Rafah (south) and did not find anyone to stay with or how to get aid, as my sister was severely injured, and my sick father suffered a stroke, heart disease, and diabetes, which an 85-year-old person cannot bear.In the first days, they lived in a ground house that had previously been designated for storing animal feed
Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced the new temporary visa program for Canadians in the Gaza Strip who have family in Canada. This came after months of requests from Canadians in the conflict area who have extended family living in Canada. Miller said that life in Gaza was "unlivable," and he plans to start a temporary visa program on January 9, 2024. He said again how hard it is to leave the besieged Palestinian territory. Mr.
Miller says that Canada is not getting any guarantees about the departure of extended family members on its list.
Also, people who have to evacuate and their families who live in Canada will not get any money from the Canadian government. This means that my family will have to pay for all of our travel costs as well as our costs to settle in Canada
In response to this urgent need, we've initiated a fundraising campaign, reaching out to our friends, family, and community for support in this critical mission to reunite our families.
We aim to sponsor my dad, mum, my sister and her family, and my brother and his family for their stay in Canada. Our immediate family is comprised of five family units. The financial costs are substantial, and with no humanitarian response in sight, we are left with no choice but to turn to our community for assistance.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to reuniting our families and providing them with the safety and security they desperately need. Your support will make a significant difference in the lives of those enduring unimaginable challenges.
Let's come together as a community, showing compassion and solidarity, to bring hope and relief to those who need it the most. Join us in this heartfelt endeavor to reunite hearts and bring our families to safety in Canada.
The estimated costs we are fundraising for per person include:
Visa application fees: $100
Work permit: $100
Biometrics: $85
Passport fees: $100
Document translation: $65
The total estimated costs leading up to their arrival in Canada are $661 per person and $18,508 for all 28 family members.
In addition, since it is not easy to find work immediately due to not speaking the country's language (English), we estimate the costs of each family's stay in Canada for four months for each family, which includes:
minimum living costs:
Rent: $2,700
Food and other supplies: $1,300
This adds a minimum of $16,000 per family for their four-month stay—a staggering additional total cost of $80,000.
While we attempt to raise these funds to provide some hope and immediate relief for our families, we continue to advocate for an immediate and lasting ceasefire and a humanitarian crisis scheme to support all Palestinians in Gaza.
I will donate any surplus to charitable organizations
Please help me and save my father and my family. I do not want to lose anyone else after losing my only uncle and all his grandchildren. Let me help them and get back everything they did for me and my brothers.
I sincerely appreciate your kind donation. The situation is getting worse. Share the fundraising, please; it can be helpful.
