American Afghan Interpreter Refugee Family Fund

Eid Mohammad Yaqubi served as an interpreter for United States forces in Afghanistan, deployed to numerous locations in theater after the September 11th attacks. Primarily, Eid supported Army Special Operations Forces during operations in extremely isolated small 12 person outposts far from logistical support of large US bases. Eid did more than translate; he carried a rifle and engaged in direct fire combat with the Taliban that spanned over seven years.. He saved countless American lives due to his historical knowledge that he passed among American elements as we rotated through the combat zone.
Eid is a member of my family, and I sponsored him to become a US citizen in 2009. He lived with my family and I for nine months, and my daughters affectionately call him “Uncle Eid.” Eid is now married, has a child and works daily to accomplish the American Dream. Due to challenges to the American Immigration system, Eid left his immediate family of 18 members in Afghanistan to set the conditions for their eventual arrival in America.
Amid the swift defeat of the friendly government of Afghanistan and the history of Eid’s relationship countering the Taliban, his remaining family was at immediate risk of harm. Eid worked tirelessly to aid his family in their harrowing escape from Taliban forces. During the early morning hours in late August, all 18 family members were saved along with one plastic bag of their possessions. Eid is immensely grateful to all involved in helping his family to safety. They are currently processing through Texas and Wisconsin, awaiting final link up with Eid, his wife, and child.
Eid’s family in the U.S. has grown from three to 21 members in recent weeks. This is a joyous change, but also a financially difficult one for Eid and his whole family. Please help this American patriot aid the transition of new family members into our great country.
Thank you
