We can no longer live in Gaza

I am Rafat Shurrab from Gaza. I witnessed a lot of blood and pieces of body parts, and I witnessed the death of many children, women and young people before my eyes. I feel a deep, indescribable sadness. The sound of children's screams of fear never leaves me. Now I am here in Gaza.

My new home and workplace were bombed, including gypsum and paint stores and the Fikra Training and Development Center.

I am a new groom. I got married on August 26, 2023, then I became a father. God blessed me with twin daughters, Maryam and Samah, who are now 12 months old. I was building their future, but everything stopped because of the war.

I had two sources of income
1. I own an institution, the Fikra Center, which contains more than 30 male and female teachers and 500 male and female students who learn monthly in various educational and professional fields.

2. The second source of income is stores selling gypsum boards and paints.
They are gone and become ashes

It is not easy for a person to start his life from scratch as if nothing had happened.

Right now, I, my children, and my wife need a decent life. We are having difficulty leaving Gaza in search of safety. The journey to the Egyptian border is dangerous and requires large financial costs of up to 5,000 US dollars per person to cover travel costs and ensure our safe passage. In addition, we need additional funding to support our resettlement upon our arrival.

My main goal is to ensure the safety of my family members. Here is a breakdown of the financial requirements:

- The cost of a travel trip to Egypt for four people is $20,000 ($5,000 per person).

- The cost of issuing a passport for me, my husband, and my children is $1,500.

- Basic living costs in Egypt include three months' rent at a cost of $10,000.

- A new house will be constructed in place of the house destroyed by the war at an estimated cost of approximately $55,000.

- It will cost $22,000 to rebuild the Fikra Training and Development Center, restoring former employees to their jobs, and hiring new people to replace employees who lost their lives in the recent war on Gaza.

- An amount of $128,495 will be invested in establishing warehouses to store gypsum and paints and import them from abroad. Previous workers will be employed and new workers will be hired to contribute to providing them with job opportunities
and financial income.

This amount is not enough for me to completely rebuild my workplace, it is just the beginning of the road again.
