Make it Happen - Let's Get Noni to University
Donation protected
Thanks for visiting our page – let’s make this happen. We are Noni’s sisters from the AISJ varsity volleyball team and we started this page on behalf of our beautiful sister Noni Dube who needs our help to get to university. Keep reading to learn more or just go ahead and donate and share NOW!
Nonhlanhla Dube is from Vosloorus Township, on the outskirts of Johannesburg. As a 7th grade student she earned a scholarship to the American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ) and Noni is widely known for her positive energy, involvement in just about everything and a huge smile! She is a full IB diploma student, she runs service programs, plays varsity sports, is involved in student government, and has great grades. Recently, Noni was awarded The Global Citizenship Scholarship to attend Trent University in Peterborough, Canada. Noni needs our help to raise money for housing, meals, books, and flights.
Noni gives back, she is involved in several service projects. She is highly involved in Project Dignity, A service group which works to empower young, disadvantaged women. They focus on teaching young females from township schools in Diepsloot and Soweto about sexual health education. Noni also helped fundraise and distribute re-useable pads to allow girls to attend school while menstruating. This is a problem most of don’t consider, but Noni understands the value of education and has made a point to help young, underprivileged girls get to school, even when they have their period.
Noni is a bridge builder. She grew up in Vasloorus and appreciates her people. She organized a talent show that linked her South African family and her AISJ family. She is positive and proud of all her people – she loves to connect her two worlds. This connection has led her to the understanding that her two worlds are intertwined. She knows that with an education, she will be able to help – an education will give her the platform she needs to take off and find meaningful ways to make a difference in the lives of many.
If this dream becomes reality, Noni hopes to return to South Africa with diverse knowledge and qualifications in Business and Media. Her goal is to establish a youth development organization to help the youth in townships learn about opportunities inside and outside of the country, help them through the college/university application process, and provide work experiences for them. With an internationally recognized degree, not only will there be opportunities for Noni, but for the young people, she intends to empower.

Our target is to fund the first year and a half so Noni can get a good start at Trent. Funds collected in CAD. Please note that all funds raised will be withdrawn by Joanne Arnott on behalf on Noni and paid to Trent University to pay residence, meal plan, books, and incidentals. All other monies will go towards Noni's flight and will cover basic expenditures.
Please join Team Noni and consider making a donation to help her future – she’s an incredible young woman with a bright future, let’s get her there!
