Africa's Beating Cancer Plan To Help 1.6 Billion Patients

Donation protected
Successful cancer care and intervention is urgently needed – and entirely possible in Africa.

In Africa, cancer deaths are expected to more than double, reaching roughly 1.4 million deaths annually by 2040.

Globally, cancer kills nearly 10 million people a year, but the risk of dying from cancer varies greatly depending on where in the world you live.

About 70% of these deaths are in Africa and the disparity is worsening. Newly diagnosed cancer patients in Africa are living a death sentence without access to cancer medicines.

Africa’s Beating Cancer Plan will help 1.6 Billion Africans. This is PFP.NGO and The Pan African Parliament of the African Union’s response to reducing deaths in Africa caused by Cancer.

It reflects a political commitment to leave no stone unturned to take action against cancer by building infrastructure to include early cancer detection centres across Africa, providing a timely cancer diagnosis and improving access to cancer treatment options for patients in Africa.

We are mobilising the collective power that will support 1.6 Billion patients in Africa and our efforts are to reduce the suffering and deaths caused by cancer.

It marks the beginning of a new era in cancer prevention and care, where patients have access to high-quality screening, treatments and the latest state of the art technologies.

Most importantly of all, Africa’s Beating Cancer Plan places the interests and well-being of cancer patients, their families and the wider population at its heart, every step of the way.

Parliamentarians, Patients, Decision-Makers, Universities, industry partners and philanthropies all can take more active roles in collaborating with African governments to confront cancer, but more bridges need to be built. Hearts, minds and funding will follow – at a level that could move mountains.

The more we understand of the biological processes, risk factors and health determinants driving cancer, the more effectively we can prevent, detect, diagnose and treat it.

Cancer research, innovation and new technologies can save lives; but to save as many lives as possible, new knowledge must be shared as widely as possible, so that doctors, nurses, health authorities and decision-makers can translate them into concrete actions to save lives in Africa.

Please join us to fight against preventable cancer deaths in Africa.
