Afrimuda Children: Be the Difference
Donation protected
Hello, Once (while in America) someone shouted to me that I should "Go Back to Africa." And, so I did...to visit. It was not, at all, the vacation I was expecting. While there; many things were put into cultural, ancestorial and economic perspectives for me. I left with a heavy heart and compeled to try to do something to help... to help the children and to give tribute to my African ancestors. I am not a professional fundraiser or campaigner. I am an everyday person asking for help on behalf of some children that desperately need your help. Please hear this ask with compassion and forgiveness if I don't use the right "keywords" to compel you to help them. Despite my deficiencies, You have the opportunity to truly “Be the difference” in their lives.
While traveling to Ghana in July 2023 I had the honor and privilege to be welcomed by the children of Afrimuda with dance and drumming.
It was one of those sacred moments where you know the person(s) are selflessly giving you everything they have within them to give... to please you while not asking for anything in return… though they have great needs! At that moment;
Oddly, I felt like I had a humbling understanding of the Christmas: Little Drummer Boy song which talks about," the poor drummer boy without a gift for him (Jesus) "played his best for him" and "He smiled at Me." It's humbling when a child gives you all they have to give---and their all is their smile, eyes of hopefulness and talents.
I later learned that these same smiling children were hungry and some were homeless. They rely on offerings from performances for food, shelter, books and tuition. In America, we don't have to literally buy our desks to use, buy our books to read, and pay for grade school...or we can't attend!
And, these Ghanaian children are reduced to the street begging of tourists for monies when performance opportunities are few or donations are low-just to eat!
Many of them are sleeping outdoors and don't attend school because they can't afford it. Remember this is a third world country so the parents are likely unemployeed, very ill, or deceased. The courageous Afrimuda children hope, dance, and drum to prevent (or limit) them from begging on the streets of Ghana to have the standard privileges in America of eating, shelter, and school.
Question: What is Afrimuda?
Answer: Afrimuda is an acronym for African Music and Dance.
This NGO provides these children with dance and drumming skills that they use to entertain and make monies to survive in a third-world country.
Question: Why do they need my help?
Answer: I don't know about you but, as a child, thank God I never had to beg strangers for a meal (which in their case is usually rice), sleep on the street or someone's porch, or not go to first grade because my parents couldn't buy a desk. Hence, they need your help to ease survival.
Question: Why now and Why $10,000?
Answer: Honestly, $10,000 is the goal that keeps nagging at me spiritually. This is Afrimuda's 10th anniversary of doing this work with children so maybe it's $1000 per year. I can say that I know that $10,000 is far less than the children need but far more than my self-esteem thinks I can raise. So, this is a faith move...
No donation is too small or large (even .50 cents would be a blessing).
For a self-esteem boost for achieving this goal, I did do some math:
If 100 people donated $100; the goal would be met!
If 200 people donated $50; the goal would be met!
If 5000 people donate $2; the goal would be met (so please share this on your timeline and ask others to consider donating).
Or
If you are unable to donate at this time. Please commit to praying for or sending positive energy to the Afrimuda children and SHARE this opportunity on your timeline.
***100% of donations (minus Go Fund Me fees) will go towards shelter, food, grade school tuition, books and transportation for Afrimuda kids -with full transparency of allocation and use of funds.
