Afro-Indigenous Activist Needs Your Support

Simona Bearcub’s work in Portland and other communities has included speaking out for abortion access at the Portland Women’s March last October, serving on the board of MMIW USA, working for Portland Community College as a Multi-Cultural Equity and Inclusion Advocate specializing in Indigenous programming and their Native Nations Coordinator, protesting during the George Floyd Uprising, and mutual aid efforts too numerous to list. As a result, Simona was doxxed and targeted for arrest and police brutality. She still faces legal repression and last health effects, yet still continues to stand up for community members.
Today, Simona stands with Shoshone and Paiute elders at the Winnemucca Indian Colony to protect their homes from bulldozers.
To stay standing in front of those bulldozers, Simona needs your help. Financial support will allow her to continue community defense work, as well as access healthcare and continue her education.

In addition to her current community defense work, Simona is working towards a bachelor’s degree in Indigenous studies at Portland State University, with the long-term goal of obtaining a law degree that will allow her to specialize in tribal law.
Funds will be used for Simona’s rent, utilities, healthcare, spring tuition, and other needs.
