AfterNet is a chat network in operation since 1996 using the IRC protocol.
For many years we have offered SSL encrypted connections, but we have relied on our own private Certificate Authority.. requiring users to install our key.
Recent reductions in SSL wildcard certificate prices have made us think we could streamline the SSL connection process for our users. We can get a 3 year wildcard certificate from namecheap/comodo for $270.
I (Rubin) will put in the first $100, so we need $170 more to get there.
