Agape Hope Stage 2!
Agape Hope Children's Home is located near Dodoma, in Central Tanzania. The life work of Peter and Rosemary David, it cares for 28 girls and boys between the ages of 18 months and 18 years. I first met Mr Peter when volunteering in Tanzania in 2017, and we visited the orphanage, where the kids and their two carers live in a two bedroom home on a dusty 5 acre plot.
In 2018 we raised enough money to install a well and desalination plant to get running water to the house. This meant that the girls could end their daily trudge to the sinkhole 2kms away and increase their school attendance.
The water is also now irrigating some of the land and fruit and shade trees, and keeping some newly bought goats, guinea fowl and chickens in the fold.
Living conditions for the children, however, are still very rudimentary.
The 18 girls and 12 boys sleep in separate rooms, but only have 5 bunk beds between them. Eating is simpler still, and the food that they are now growing must be eaten on the ground.
With your contributions still helping to buy some monthly food supplies, Mr Peter has asked that we start to equip the home with some basic furniture. His request is below:

1:We are in need of Ten double decker beds each one it cost USD $200 at the market ,and these beds can accommodate 20 children.
2:We are in need of 28 plastics chairs each one it cost USD $ 8 at the market.
3:We are in need of 7 dinning tables each one it cost USD $ 200 at the market.
4: We are in need of Mattresses each one it cost USD$ 25."
The total of these items is USD$3915, or AUD$5,561.
Any donation that you are able to muster would be deeply appreciated. Feel free to give the amount of one of the items above and we will make sure it is delivered. Any sum you can manage will go directly to Agape Hope (as there are no management fees, marketing costs or intermediaries - the money is transferred straight to Agape Hope to be spent at the local market).
These are the items of greatest priority - your donations have already transformed the lives of these children immensely with fresh water flowing into their home. Mr Peter and his wife Rosemary's dream is to make Agape Hope truly sustainable - a place where the children themselves can gain the skills to till the land and gain a full education at the local school. A place to sleep and eat is an important step in lifting these kids out of absolute poverty and, ultimately, allowing them to help themselves.

Stage 3 is also in the works, which involves building a toilet and dining room. This capital works would bring the living standard up to an acceptable level, allowing the kids to sleep and eat well; increasing their capacity to succeed at school and learn the skills they need to develop Agape Hope themselves.
A local builder has quoted the following, all in Tanzanian Shillings, which are around 1700Tsh=$1AUD:

2. Cement/ siment 60pc @15000 =900000 TShs.
3. Sand for building 6 trip @75000 = 450000 TShs.
4.Timber + cycling board 1 pc @ 3000 ×100pcs=300000 TShs.
5.Nondo za lenta/I don't know in English 16pc @17000= 272000 Tshs.
6.Small stone for floor/ kokoto 2 trip @180000= 360000 Tshs.
7. Nail 4 inches 6 kg@3000,nail 3 inches 6 kg @3000, iron nail 8 kg@3000 total 51000 TShs.
8.Iron sheet for roofing/ mabati1 pc @ 18000×50pcs = 900000 TShs.
9.cyling board 1pc @ 16000× 40pcs=640000Tshs.
10.Cyling board nail/misumari ya siling bodi ( screws)1 box@6000× 4 boxes = 24000 Tshs.

19. After buying all these materials.Builders: they said from starting to finishing Dinning hall and toilet , 1500,000 Tshs.
