Agape School Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Cina, and seven years ago I met one of the most amazing human beings on the planet. Arlington Louis and I met while I was volunteering in Haiti with a healthcare-oriented non-profit organization. At the time, Arlington was working as an interpreter with our organization, and we were paired up for the week. Over the span of a few years and several more trips to Haiti, I came to know and love Arlington for the beautiful person that he is. He is kind, hard-working, intelligent, resilient, and so much more. Our bond extends beyond friendship – he feels like family, like a brother. Arlington will always have a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, with the COVID pandemic restricting travel and the ongoing political unrest in Haiti, I haven’t been able to see Arlington in person for several years now. However, we’ve thankfully been able to keep in touch via WhatsApp. I’d now like to share a little of Arlington’s story with you now and ask for your help in supporting this amazing person.

Back in 2019, Arlington saw that there were many kids in his community that did not have access to education. Even though he faced his own challenges with housing, food, and safety, he took it upon himself to address this problem for others. Over the span of a few months, he was able to save enough money to buy supplies to build a small school, providing a safe place for kids to learn and grow. Agape School offers completely free education for local children. Given the current state of affairs in Haiti, many families in Arlington’s community do not have the means to provide adequate nutrition for their children – and oftentimes the meals provided by Agape School is the only meals those children will have that day. Arlington and his team are such an important part of this community, but they need our help. I'll let you hear from Arlington first!

Arlington would like to be able to build a small kitchen, as the school is currently operating with an old charcoal stove that is no longer functioning. They would like to be able to buy propane tanks and a better stove, along with additional plates, cups, and silverware. If there are any excess funds, they would also like to be able to buy additional school supplies and clothing for the kids. 100% of all funds donated will go to Agape School and will directly and positively impact the lives of these children.

I cannot overstate how much I admire Arlington for what he is doing. Despite all the violence and uncertainty that Arlington is facing in Haiti, he remains positive and unwavering in his commitment to his community. The only difference between his life and mine is luck. I won a birth lottery – I was simply lucky enough to be born in the U.S., and it feels incredibly unjust. I wish I could be doing more. There is so much going on in this world and I know it can be overwhelming as an individual who wants to help. Donating to Agape School is one simple thing you can do and know that you are positively impacting real lives. Please give what you can – I assure you it is going to a worthy cause. Thank you.

A work in progress! This was back in 2019 when Agape School was still just a dream for Arlington.

The finished school!

Meals are so important to these kids, and Agape Schools provides them!

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Please give what you can!
