On December 29th Cody Kay and Wayne Ahenakew suffered a horrific tradegy. Their family home burned down and Donna Kay & Teegan Ahenakew did not make it out of the home . That day when the family home went into flames my uncle lost his soul mate, and grandson. Tyson lost his mother and son. Vanessa lost her sweet Teegs, his grandparents lost a grandson my cousins lost their mother and nephew, grandchildren lost their grandmother and cousin, Ms. Buffalo lost her daughter, her siblings lost their sister and grandchild. We lost our auntie and a nephew. Teegs hockey team mates lost a friend. His cousins lost a best friend.
Auntie Donna was the most beautiful woman who always went over and above and seen the best in any situation. Always welcomed everyone With open arms. Teegs was such a special young boy who had knowledge on our traditional medicines and would share that knowledge with his cousins. He had patience and always so loving.
Teegan just celebrated his 10th birthday in December. He just became a big brother. His parents were so proud of him. I know that he had such love and respect for all his grandparents. I know it didn't matter what time of the night it was his both of his Papas Wayne and Cheelo would accommodate his requests no matter how crazy they seemed.
Life has changed so drastically on December 29th. My uncle and cousin not only endured this tragic and great loss but now they lost thier beauiful home. Our goal is to raise money so uncle Wayne and Cody can start building a new home. This has been a very difficult time and we are humbly asking for support to assist in making this process as stress free as possible. The hardest part is after we said our final goodbyes uncle Wayne and Cody don't have a home to go too. Any support is greatly appreciated.
