Ahimsa Day Hot Meal Drive - $1.50 to feed 3!
Tax deductible
Ahimsa Day is celebrated on October 2nd, adopted because it was Mahatma Gandhi's birthday. The man who championed non-violence (ahimsa) during the freedom struggle for independence in India. To continue this legacy of non-violence, the Joy of Sharing Foundation in collaboration with Sarva Mangal Family Trust and Wadher Family Foundation will be preparing 5000 hot meals to serve LA’s homeless, underserved, disabled — children, women and men.
A similar drive will be conducted on Thanksgiving day - when millions of turkeys are being killed.
How are these meals promoting non-violence? Great question! These meals are dairy-free. As you may know, the dairy and meat industries commit extreme violence to the animals to extract dairy. That’s only the beginning of the atrocities. You can find a lot more at: https://mercyforanimals.org/blog/the-dairy-industry-sexually-abuses-cows-heres/
Each person will receive a 16 oz container of pasta with vegetables and red sauce and a juice packet.
$1.50 feeds one person.
Your $1.50 donation will go extra-long and feed 3 people as it will be matched by two donors, Sarva Mangal Family Trust and Wadher Family Foundation.
