AL-Jazari Institute Doing Busness as
Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center, located at 8201 Park Ave S., Bloomington, MN 55420 has started this campaign on behalf of it's community's family who lost their father, Ahmed AbdiKarin Eyow, in the bomb blast on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Mr. Eyow was a beloved member of our community. We saw him multiple times a day attending our 5 daily prayer services as well as when he brought his children to our school and attended lectures himself.

Mr. Eyow was born in Somalia in 1967 where he finished High School. When the government collapsed in 1991 he became a refugee, fleeing to Eritrea where he worked for some time, finally making his way to the US in 1998. Settling in Minnesota.

In 2001, he married his wife and began a family. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Human Services last year, 2016. He was working as a welder but longed to return to his homeland of Somalia. He thought that he could help bring back stability to Somalia by applying for a job as a representative with the UN.

He left MN on Saturday, October 7, 2017 with great hope, looking forward to a chance to make a difference in his home country. He landed in Kenya, visiting with family for about a week until moving on to Mogadishu, Somlia yesterday, Saturday October 14, 2017. He was back in his hometown for only a few hours, checking into his hotel and laying down to rest when the biggest bomb blast that Somalia has heard in recent history tore the the hotel apart and took his life.

Now Mr. Eyow leaves behind 3 children between the ages of 10 and 14 and a wife along with various other family members that he used to send money to and support. He was the only breadwinner in his household and leaves behind a home mortgage of approximately $100,000 along with the maintenance of his young family.

Ruun, Mr. Eyow's wife is a community leader, active at Dar Al-Farooq Center. Yunus, Yusra and Yahya attend our weekend Islamic School as well as the basketball and soccer programs that we offer. Yusra was often found volunteering in the hallways and kitchen, helping with cleaning and serving the community.

The family is still reeling from the shock of losing their father and their future is unclear. We ask for the help of anyone reading this to donate what they can to help preserve the security of this family and support them in their dire time of need. As time goes on and the need of this family becomes more clear, we will be updating this page.

We relly appriciete to those who so far  contributed to this cause.
