Appeal for Aid to Herat Earthquake Victims
Donation protected
A series of severe earthquake with magnitudes of 6.2 on the Richter scale have inflicted destruction in Herat city, west of Afghanistan. Another 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck 35 kilometers northwest of Herat, adding to the devastation and panic in the already restless region. The impact was not limited to the city of Herat. Affected areas include the Zinda Jan district of Herat province, as well as Farah and Badghis provinces. Reports of collapsing buildings, landslides, and trapped people have exacerbated the issue, elevating it to the level of a national emergency.
The death toll from the earthquakes is still being determined, with estimates ranging from 2000 to 2500 deaths and 10000 injuries. The growing number of casualties has sparked widespread panic among officials and the general public, since more individuals may still be buried beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings.
EWSSO Emergency teams and volunteers are working relentlessly to assist the victims and salvage the situation. EWSSO is looking forward to deliver your emergency humanitarian support and aid to the disaster victims in the affected provinces ASAP.
