Support for Mom's Final Farewell
Donation protected
On New Year’s Eve, I got the call every child dreads. My mother had suffered a massive stroke, and based on her prognosis and in keeping with her wishes, I made the difficult decision to remove her from life support. On January 3rd, at 1:44am, I said my final farewell to my mom.
Suffice to say, dying is expensive. And an internet ad scam earlier this year left her bank accounts depleted. I am raising money to pay for her cremation and a small memorial service, bill coverage for the house she rented with my brother and niece, and trash removal and cleaning for the move out process.
My mother was my lighthouse, and she dedicated her life to ensuring I had all the tools to survive and navigate this world. She was a parent first and foremost, even if it meant being the bad guy, and I’m grateful every day for her unwavering commitment to my development and growth, specifically her insistence that I always eat my vegetables.
I’ve witnessed this same dedication as she’s helped to raise my niece, and I believe wholeheartedly, that her role as a grandmother was her reason for living so well these last eleven years.
Her presence, her guidance, her supreme cooking skills, and her ability to turn what should be a ten minute phone call into a two hour call, will be sorely missed.
Thank you so much for reading and for any donations that will allow my brother and I to focus on our grief rather than worrying about logistics. I love you all dearly.
