I'm Yahia Z F Abu Qamar, a 19-year-old college student currently navigating the challenges of life in Turkey. Originally from Gaza, my family and I have recently faced the devastating impact of conflict. Our home was bombed, and our sole source of income, a grocery store, was destroyed, leaving us in a state of despair.

Who are Yahia's family ?

Yahia's family comprises six members, including himself. He has three brothers, his father, and his mother. Yahya's father holds the esteemed position of Deputy Director General at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, where he serves as a pharmacist. Yahya assumes the role of the eldest brother in the family. Following him is Abdul Rahman, aged eighteen, who is on the verge of completing his secondary education and aspires to pursue studies in Human Medicine at university. Ibrahim, the third brother, aged fifteen, exhibits a fervent dedication to his studies, although his educational journey has been disrupted by the ongoing conflict. Lastly, Abdullah, the youngest sibling at nine years old, endured injuries during the war but has thankfully recovered.

The circumstances facing Yahia's family in the southern Gaza Strip are emblematic of the plight shared by many families who have been displaced from the northern Gaza Strip. Forced to abandon their homes and flee in the face of perilous threats, they sought refuge in the city of Rafah, seeking to evade the relentless bombardment and widespread devastation ravaging their former community.

Throughout their ordeal, Yahia's family narrowly escaped the specter of death on numerous occasions, such as when neighboring residences were engulfed by explosions, inflicting severe injuries upon their occupants. The repercussions of such bombings have been deeply felt within Yahia's own family, exacerbating their already precarious circumstances.

Presently, Yahia's family finds themselves grappling with the harsh realities of life amidst the ruins of their former existence. Basic necessities, notably food, are alarmingly scarce, with exorbitant prices exacerbating the challenge of securing sustenance. Compounding their adversity, the family's financial stability has been shattered by the destruction of their father's commercial enterprises in the northern Gaza Strip, resulting in a staggering estimated loss of $900,000.

In the midst of this turmoil, Yahia's brother, Abdul Rahman, endeavors to pursue his education by seeking passage to Egypt. However, the journey to cross the Rafah land border presents a formidable obstacle, compounded by the exorbitant fee of $8,000 required to facilitate his departure.

Against this backdrop of adversity, Yahia's family finds themselves ensnared in a cycle of hardship and uncertainty within the confines of Rafah.

In an earnest endeavor to secure the survival and well-being of my family amidst the perilous circumstances they face in Gaza, I am reaching out for support in this critical juncture. With your generous contributions, we can alleviate the imminent threats to their safety and provide them with a pathway to a more secure future.

Outlined below is how the donations will be allocated:

$40,000 USD (equivalent to $54,242 CAD) will be allocated to facilitate their departure from Gaza through the Rafah land crossing. This essential funding will cover the necessary expenses associated with navigating the complexities of border crossings and ensuring their safe passage out of the region.

$5,000 USD (equivalent to $6,780 CAD) will be designated to address their immediate needs upon arrival in Egypt. This allocation will be instrumental in securing essential provisions and resources vital for their sustenance and basic living requirements as they acclimate to their new environment.

Your compassionate support will serve as a beacon of hope for my family, offering them a lifeline amidst the turmoil they endure. Together, we can provide them with the means to transcend adversity and embark on a journey towards a brighter and more secure future.
