Aid Bella's Brain Tumour Recovery using a Creative Studio
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julie and on behalf of Isabella's (Bella) Mum, friends and family, I am fundraising to aid Bella's rehabilitation and recovery from a Brain Tumour Operation, at home in her community of Llandudno, rather than in Liverpool, a 120 mile round trip for her family/friends to be able to provide the support and care she desperately needs. Getting Bella into NHS community care, in the location she was born in will allow her to recover quickly and will allow vital care to be given to others at the NHS Walton facility she is currently staying at.
Bella's Story
Bella has recently undergone more than 18 hours brain surgery and multiple ops which removed a plum sized Brain Tumour found in the 4th ventricle of her brain right next to the brain stem. Bella now has a permanent shunt inserted that will allow the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to drain effectively from her brain. Our huge thanks go to NHS Walton Centre for Neurosurgery for their ongoing treatment and care!
Whilst out of ICU now, Bella remains at the Walton Centre and is now embarking on a pathway of rehabilitation which includes Swallow Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy to help with walking (she currently able to take 3/4 steps) and her fine motor skills and of course psychological support. Currently she is very sensitive to light and noise and we hope this will improve over time. Bella's vision has been significantly impacted; she has blurred vision and sees double, which should recover but may take some time; hence we are looking to provide an environment that allows her to rehabilitate and work in her local community allowing for this current disability.
Bella is a beautiful young adult and that is not just skin deep; she is kind, caring, responsible, creative, a loving big sister to Rocco and Flossie and a very warm, pragmatic, supportive daughter to Joanne.
Pre-op, Bella (on the face of it) was a very healthy young 19 year old; living her life to the full, enjoying college, getting ready to start Manchester Met University in Sept 2024, studying Fashion & Textile Design. Due to her current disabilities Bella will be unable to attend University this year.
Bella is a truly talented Creative, she has recently spent the last 2 years studying Textiles & Art at Parc Menai Fine Art college where she was recently invited to show her 'recycled fashion' using old shopping bags at the end of college year exhibition. She also exhibited her ceramic work at a local Arts show.

She is a dancer, fine artist, enjoys fashion and sewing and has this year qualified as a Tattoo Artist, focusing on fine line tattooing, and hopes to do this to supplement her through University. Take a look at her instagram page - Tabella - Fine Line Tattoo Artist
We all love Bella very much and we desperately want to aid the rehabilitation of her fine motor skills, to ensure she can continue to use her brilliantly creative mind to its optimum and go on to be the amazing clothes designer we know she can be. She absolutely deserves our support to get better, quickly and effectively in an environment that is local to her home, is adapted to her needs and will allow her the local support and care she needs as well as allow her to continue with her creative projects also allowing her to rehabilitate. That's why we want to establish a local based (Llandudno area) adaptive creative studio that she can use during her recovery.
The funds that we raise will go towards the following:
- A unit type space to create art safely for the next 6-12 months to aid recovery
- Transport to/from the utility
- Adaptive technology
- iMac or iPad (her vision is so bad she will need a large screen/monitor
- Adapted disability sewing machine
- Adapted potters wheel
- any necessary treatments/requirements for Bella that may not be provided by the NHS, eg glasses, extra physio, counselling, travel to appointments in Liverpool.
(any donations of physical items would be gratefully received)
We are grateful for your understanding and generosity in supporting Isabella's recovery. We will also accept offers of help to find a suitable studio and names of any contacts you may have who can help, as well as knowledge of any further arts therapy related funding we can tap into. All forms of support/help are truly welcome and gratefully received.
Thank you so much!
Good Luck Bella xxxx
