Aid Chuck Hutchinson's Cancer Journey

Donation protected

My husband, Chuck Hutchinson, has been diagnosed with cancer. Due to this, he’s had to give up his jobs until this cancer is whipped.

He started out at a Huntington, WV Hospital where he had a stint put in to drain bile that was causing constant nausea. After numerous tests, a tumor was found.

He has since been transferred to UK Cancer Center. For the first couple of weeks, he has been traveling back and forth from home in Rush, Kentucky to Lexington, Kentucky for more tests and to meet with his surgeon.

This coming Tuesday he’s returning to Lexington for a few more tests and to meet with the surgeon to find out if he needs chemotherapy before surgery or after.

All of this, so far, is putting a strain on us financially since he’s unable to work. Right now it’s unknown how long this process is going to last.

Any help we can receive will be so greatly appreciated. Thank God for friends.

It's now been determined that he's going to have chemo before surgery. BUT he has to have plastic stint replaced with a different one before treatment can begin. Procedure couldn't be scheduled until December 11. Then have to wait to find out when chemo will be scheduled. Nobody seems to get in a hurry except me!

So that's the update for the present time. I'll be keeping everyone up to date....

Right now we’re in a holding pattern. They have to replace his plastic stent with a metal one before starting chemo. They’ve scheduled it for dec 10. We aren’t sure why such a long wait. We have a phone appointment with the surgeon tomorrow to find out lots of things. Chuck actually feels good now but we’re both terrified. I’ll keep in touch. Love….Lynn

Another update;

Appointment yesterday it was decided that chemo is the best option. A port will be installed and will start chemo asap. Please continue praying that the cancer can be controlled.

New update:

Surgery tomorrow to put port in place for chemo. Chemo will start ASAP after port incision heals. He'll have 2 types of chemo and also immunotherapy.

Keep the prayers coming!

A long overdue update...

Where to start? His first chemo treatment went well. A big thank you to Jessica Holmes for sitting in for me. I picked a great time to develop the "crud"! Two days after chemo he had an outpatient procedure to replace the plastic stent. For some reason another plastic one was used. NOW in three months he has to go through the same procedure AGAIN! Next a Christmas eve chemo treatment. All we want for Christmas is a cure for Chuck! I have lots of thank you's to send out. For the time being... Thanks to everyone for the thoughts, phone calls and prayers!!!

A new and exciting update:

Today he had a meeting with his onocology team and found out that his numbers are improving. In two weeks he'll have a cat scan, and, if it shows what they are hoping, he might be a candidate for surgery... Your prayers are working!! Keep them coming...
