Aid Dr. Annie: Wildlife Vet in Need

Donation protected
Dr. Annie Mears had a tragic injury while riding her horse and has broken her back (in 4 places) as well as her pelvis. Fortunately, her spinal cord is intact, but her recovery will be long and costly. Annie is a wildlife vet and friend working in South Africa. She had just recently left the comfort of a local veterinary practice and branched out on her own so she could treat more of her specialty species: wildlife and equine. She has worked tirelessly the last seven years to treat injured wildlife, relocate imperiled big cats, elephants and other African species across the continent and is an elemental team member in efforts to reintroduce captive cheetah back into the wild. One of her personal pet projects is also treating a population of free-ranging donkeys that roam the streets of Grahamstown, South Africa, for minimal cost as they are basically left to fend for themselves.

Annie is an avid equestrian and helped maintain the GCF mounted unit horses as the veterinary advisor and team vet since 2017. There were many large veterinary bills avoided during that time because she was willing to talk me through various treatments, taking no payment.

Since she is the sole veterinarian in her practice, her income is completely cut off until she has recovered and is able to get back on her feet (literally). ALL funds will be used to help her with bills, animal care for her personal animals and medical expenses until she can restart her practice. Any amount will be a tremendous help and relief for her.
