Aid for Daniel and Elizabeth's Recovery

Daniel and I have been married less than one year and achieved every newlyweds dream of purchasing their first home together on May 1st, 2024. We found a home we knew we were LUCKY to be able to purchase and moved into it on June 1st, 2024.

Less than 4 weeks later, on June 27th, 2024 our new house was hit by a tornado and left severely damaged both inside the house and outside the house. To say we are devastated is an understatement. We had just almost finished unpacking boxes and making plans for our future projects of how to make this house our dream home.

On Thursday, June 27th, after enjoying an afternoon at the beach, we were hanging out on our couch when what we thought a normal Florida thunderstorm was rolling through. Elizabeth went outside to pickup a plant that had fallen over from the rain, and very quickly and suddenly, a hurricane force wind came through and she quickly fought with the wind to get inside. Once inside, Daniel shouted at me and i turned around to see that everything changed for us.

Within twenty seconds, our patio walls and the sliding glass doors and frame were cracked and halfway in our dining room, halfway outside with a portion of a roof wedged up against the back of our house. Power lines tangled up, water pouring into our home, we stood in shock. It wasn't until later we realized it was a tornado that had ripped through our neighborhood.

We are left with uncertainty of where we will be living for the foreseeable future, as well as expenses accrued as they do when in an emergency. With us also being first time homeowners and having just moved into our home less than one month ago, you can imagine that we are nowhere prepared for a disaster like this.

We are believers in community, and part of being in community with people is asking for help - we need help. We are asking for financial help to meet our immediate needs of housing, necessities, and temporary repairs until our insurance has a plan in place for us. We are in uncharted territory for us, but we are alive and that is truly what is most important.
