Aid for Denison Family's Fire Loss
Donation protected
In September 2024, our good friends Jonathan and Megan Denison bought a new house in Altadena where they could continue to grow as a family with their two sons. Sadly, they lost it and all of their possessions in the Eaton Canyon fire on the night of January 7, 2025. They lost power that night around 6 p.m., then received word of the fire, which was less than 3 miles away at that time. They saw the flames from their window and quickly grabbed the boys' favorite stuffies, a few pairs of clothes, and evacuated to a friend's house in Santa Clarita.
The San Gabriel Valley has been home for the Denisons for almost 9 years, where Megan has been working as a Senior Director of Development at Caltech and Jonathan as a Spacecraft Operations Team Lead at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This place, where they built their careers and their family, is now unrecognizable.
It's been confirmed that the house and everything inside is gone. Not just possessions but the makings of a home with memories: homemade Halloween costumes for the boys, newborn footprint art, and memorabilia from when Jonathan and Megan first started dating, when Jonathan was a trumpet player in the marching band and Megan was a cheerleader at Ohio State. This is also where we first met them, and have remained close friends ever since. It pains us to be so far away and unable to provide direct support, so this fundraising page is our way of trying to help in any way we can.
Despite the unimaginable hardship of suddenly and unexpectedly losing their home, the Denisons have remained remarkably strong. In fact, the same day they learned that their house burned down was their oldest son Graham’s half birthday, and they put everything aside to get him a birthday cake and celebrated him. Even while devastated, they were able to smile and be there for their kids to have a special day. If you know Megan and Jonathan, you know that they're wonderful humans, incredible parents, and great friends. We know they'll continue to handle this situation with strength and grace, but if you're able to contribute to this fund to help ease the burden of everything that needs to be done in order to start the healing process, it would be so appreciated. The funds will be used for any immediate needs they have that might not be fully covered by other forms of aid, whether that be quick meals for the family so they don't have to worry about cooking on top of everything else, or buying some necessities while they determine where they'll be staying long term. Every little bit helps.
Thank you to those who donated through Megan's venmo already. If others would prefer to give through Venmo, her handle is @Megan-Denison-9
