Aid for Diego's Family and Business
Donation protected
Friends, Family and Kind Strangers,
My name is Terren Lin. Our gardener, Diego Lopez, his sister Gabriella and her 4 children (Dulce, Paloma, Evana, Catia) have been displaced due to the recent fires.
Luckily, Gabriella and the children are safe and staying with friends. Diego is currently sheltering between his truck or at a hotel depending on evening temperatures. During the day, he continues to honor his commitments to clients with what resources he has left.
Altadena has not only been home to the Lopez family over the last 20 years, it also from where Diego's landscaping business has serviced the local community for over a decade. In addition to the family losing everything, his small business also sustained heavy losses in tools, equipment and work vehicles.
Despite losing their belongings, the family was able to save their horses (Diamond, Sultan, Jitano). They remain honored to have participated in the Rose Parade with their horses just days before the wildfires struck.
If you have the means, Diego and Gabriella would be grateful for donations of any amount as they begin the long journey to rebuilding their lives and livelihoods. Even a share or kind word would go a long way towards recovery and healing. Below are vignettes of the life they hope to rebuild.
Funds will go towards immediate needs such as:
- Daily necessities for Gabriella and her 4 children (Dulce, Paloma, Evana, Catia)
- Secure long term housing for the entire family
- Rebuilding Diego’s landscaping business
As I sit in a coffee shop with Diego on Sunday evening creating this fundraiser, we can't help but feel sorrow for everyone's tragic losses. We send positive thoughts to everyone affected. Please continue to stay safe! Together we all will overcome the challenges ahead. With gratitude from the Lopez Family
