Fiji Back To School Aid

Donation protected

The #FijiBackToSchoolAid is an initiative by a group of Fijians around the world to provide support to families back home who are having to choose between sending their children to school or providing a decent meal.  This difficult pandemic period has made it almost impossible for breadwinners to provide food for their families due to significant job losses, which also comes at the aftermath of the devastation caused by TC Harold. Based on recent statistics, about 4000 families have applied for some sort of social support and local NGOs are tasked with raising funds to help families get back on their feet. We decided to join hands to answer the call and help in whatever way possible so these funds will supplement the support already being provided by local organizations.

Our goal is to support 200 students (100 secondary, 100 primary) to purchase basic school items listed in the cost estimates given to us which is about $100fjd for primary school students and $150fjd for secondary school students. The deadline will be July 1st, 2020 where we’ll send over the money to folks in Fiji to get these items together in time for school on July 6th, 2020. We appreciate your assistance for our vulnerable families at this time. Vinaka!

School Items include: Bags, 2 sets of uniform, 1 pair of school sandals, 1 school bag, books, and stationery items.

My name is Savenaca Gasaiwai. I am part of a group of young Fijians who are raising funds to help students back in Fiji afford basic school supplies. I currently reside in the United States. I have no relationship to the party I'm raising money for. All the proceeds will go directly to a a Fiji-based NGO called Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC) in Fiji. As outlined in the description above, all the funds will be used to serve children in Fiji who have applied for financial assistance from FENC (over 3000 applicants) to pay for basic school supplies. This includes 1 school bag, 2 sets of school uniforms, 1 pair of sandals, books, and stationery items PER child.  After the total donation is withdrawn, I will send it directly to the organization who will provide me with a receipt so I can justify it to all our donors. I've also consulted with the organization and made sure that they will provide us with receipts for each individual transaction for accountability purposes.
