Aid for Gonzales Family in Their Time of Need

My name is Micaella (Mica) Gonzales and I am speaking as the next of kin for my father. Since I was his “pride and joy” and his “little girl” it only seems fitting. My dad, Wallace Gonzales jr. was an amazing man. He always made time for “his girls”, gave me anything I could ever want, and loved us until the very end. Sadly, his life was cut short due to his mental illness getting the better of him. On August 29th, 2024, he was pulled over by a state police officer for speeding. He didn’t believe the man was a real cop and so he ran. He was stopped in front of harbor freight in front of the Alamogordo mall. The cops did everything they could to talk him down but in the end, shots were fired and my dad did not make it out the other side. Hearing the gun shots and my mother’s cries will forever play in my mind. His traumatic brain injury caused him to not the see the world as we do and while I personally believe the cops did everything they could, once my dad had his mind set on anything, there was no chaining it.

My dad was the lead beneficiary and the home we live in now is the result of his amazing job. The money we are asking for is a combination of expenses. The transportation of his body back from Albuquerque, the cremation, new housing, etc. I am a newly 18 year old college student with a part time job and am in no position to take care of myself, mom, and pets.
