AID FOR HURRICANE ETA IN HONDURAS
After an extremely difficult and painful year around the world, Honduras and other countries in Central America have just been hit by Hurricane Eta.
The vast majority of the Honduran population lives in extreme poverty. Thousands of families have completely lost their homes and are now displaced with nowhere to go.
This is the second largest hurricane since Hurricane Mitch in 1998, which left the country in shambles. On top of this, they are still dealing with a pandemic that has highly affected the population.
The authorities have failed to help them and therefore, we are hoping to find solidarity and helping hearts to assist those in need. Funds will be used towards buying the following supplies :
- Food / non-perishables (immediate hot food)
- Bottled water
- Hygiene products (diapers, wipes, etc)
- Clothing, shoes, blankets, towels
- Face masks
Just a little background, we are 3 sisters; Michelle, Nicolle, and I (Gabriela). We are not an organization, we are just 3 sisters who were born and raised in Honduras that had the initiative to help. We all live in the US but we have many connections in Honduras who are currently aiding us in making sure that we can get this help straight to the people. We are receiving help from a group of volunteers made up of friends, influencers, djs, radio hosts etc and are also going to be sending a container to the Ebenezer church. We are all coming together to help the people in Honduras, and we are doing our best to ensure that the funds are going directly to the hands of the people in need. We are going to be doing two things; sending funds directly to a group of volunteers who will be purchasing necessities such as diapers, sleeping bags, blankets, medicine, water, socks, underwear, non-perishables and more. These are all things that are most needed with the current situation, both groups have already been helping and distributing items and they need more.
They are equipped with enough people, trucks, and boats to get to places where people are not currently being reached. We will make sure to get photos and receipts of the items purchased along with proof that people are receiving help. The money will be sent as soon as we have access to them so updates will be posted very soon!
Also, we are preparing to fill and send a container to the Ebenezer church in Honduras with donations of all kinds. We will be in Raleigh Discount Appliances this weekend accepting donations and packaging emergency kits. Some of the money will be used to buy sleeping bags, blankets, socks, diapers, underwear, feminine products, water, canned foods, and more. All expenses for the container will be covered with these funds as well and updates with receipts will be posted on this thread.
