Aid for Matthew's Living Expenses During Recovery

Hi everyone. I’m Jennifer, Matthew’s sister. On Friday, March 7, Matthew went to the ER to be seen for some abdominal pain he was having. After an initial assessment, they said he would need surgery to remove his appendix. Pretty standard, right? Well, as luck would have it, when he went in for surgery, they discovered his appendix had ruptured some time ago, causing damage to other organs and leading to sepsis. What should’ve been a minor surgery, turned into a major one. His abdomen was completely opened up, and needed the pieces of his appendix removed, in addition to some small intestine and colon. He is filled with drains and tubes and will be in the hospital for at least a week.

Matthew works as a cook at a local restaurant and unfortunately, no work = no income. Matthew’s doctors are advising no work for at least a month once discharged from the hospital, as long as there are no additional complications.
