COVID-19 Aid For Refugee Families in NC Triangle
Donation protected
UPDATE 4/15:
We are now also collecting old laptops, iPads, etc. in good condition. If you would like to make a donation in this form, please contact Samantha at (571) [phone redacted] or [email redacted].
The Situation
COVID-19 has upended lives everywhere. The resettled refugee population in the NC triangle area has been especially affected.
We are fortunate enough that these families trust us with their concerns. Right now, these concerns are abundant.
The parents of these families are Uber drivers, nail technicians, and restaurant workers who are suddenly out of work. They are low on diapers, groceries, medicine, technology for their children, and countless other resources which will continue to be depleted.
This public health crisis has demonstrated how much our communities depend on one other. When other support services fall short, we must turn to each other for assistance.
What These Funds Are For
We plan to focus on providing any and all immediate needs that arise. We are receiving feedback via a form sent to these families on their most urgent request. These may include things such as the purchasing of groceries, internet routers, copies of textbooks, etc.
We will keep donors updated on our progress weekly.
Who We Are
The Kenan Refugee Project at Duke works closely the resettled refugee population in the Triangle area. We run weekly programs such as LAUNCH/Citizenship Lab and SuWa. These programs provide English tutoring to resettled women, homework help to their children, and other various community-building initiatives.
These aren't just members of our community. They are members of our family.
More information on our work can be found at: http://www.kenanrefugeeproject.org/ [email redacted]s on Instagram.
