Aid for the Saunders Family in Their Loss
Donation protected
On April 17, 2025, our community suffered a heartbreaking loss. John Saunders, a devoted firefighter with the Tri-Community Fire Department in Greenwich, Ohio, gave his life in the line of duty while courageously battling a house fire. John was just 41 years old, but his impact on those around him will be felt for generations.
John was more than a hero in uniform—he was a loving father to Kila Stillion and Kaden Saunders, a cherished son to Lisa and Brian Pleska, a dedicated brother, and a loyal friend. He was passionate about truck pulling, drag racing, and dirt drags, and was a proud member of the Central Ohio Truck Pulling Circuit. John played a leading role in organizing the Greenwich Fireman’s Festival Truck and Tractor Pulls, bringing excitement and unity to his hometown.
For over 20 years, John worked at R&L Carriers in Norwalk, Ohio, rising from a tire technician to shop foreman through hard work and determination. He was known for his infectious enthusiasm, his love for his nieces and nephews, and his unwavering commitment to his family and community.
This tragedy has deeply affected all of us at Dura | Shiloh - Wellington, where John’s mother, Lisa Pleska, has been a key member of our Welding Department for six years. Lisa is a dedicated and hardworking employee who consistently goes above and beyond to support her team and our customers. Now, it’s our turn to support her.
