Aid for TJ's Family: A Memorial Fund
Donation protected
My name is John, and I am raising funds for my good friend Thomas "TJ" Ovies. He passed away on November 24th from heart complications. The past few years were not only tough on TJ but his entire family. In late 2020, during COVID, TJ went in for surgery to get a stent put in his heart. Post-operation, when TJ was being transferred into his hospital bed, the workers dropped him. TJ ended up in a coma for about two weeks, and his health never recovered. Since TJ was the sole provider for his household, he went back to work as soon as possible to keep a functioning household going. Traveling from Mexico into San Diego 5-6 days per week while working long days on oxygen took its toll on his heart.
Here are a few things about TJ. He was one of the funniest guys I knew. TJ always had a smile on his face, even when he was not feeling the greatest. TJ had the ability to make anybody feel good about themselves. I would watch him give people genuine compliments at random; it's something you don't see too often in today's world. TJ always talked about his family and all of the positive things they were doing in life. TJ was a family man, they meant the world to him. His optimism towards life was contagious; it is what drew people to him. These qualities are what made TJ such an amazing person. I'm personally grateful to have gotten to know him well over the years.
Here is the struggle for TJ's family right now. As the head of the household, it left his wife Enriquetta, who is a stay-at-home mom and wife, in a bind. TJ wasn't able to work a lot his last year, so they went through their savings. They are now going to have to move out of their house because they cannot afford it with TJ gone. The money being raised is going to go towards TJ's memorial and getting Enriquetta moved somewhere more financially manageable.
Thank you so much for your time; it is truly appreciated. Happy Holidays.
