Aid for animals

Hi, I am Heather, one of the founders of Woofstock, a festival for dogs based in Devon supporting charities.

We have just returned from the Polish/ Ukraine border town of Medyka, where we have witnessed some of the most challenging things I’ve seen in my lifetime. What we have seen doesn’t even scratch the service of what the Ukrainian people have and are currently experiencing. When we arrived in Poland, we contacted some amazing charities like the ADA Foundation and ADR Germany, who are working on the border and in the local town of Przemyśl, spending many hours with them.

Having spoken firsthand with these charities and the Ukrainian people fleeing the atrocities of war, with just the clothes on their backs clutching hold of family members to try and access the safety of their neighbouring countries. We have joined forces with the charities at the border town of Medyka to understand what is precisely needed on the ground right now; these things will enable families to safely continue their journeys securing the safety and well-being of their pets.

Family members, including their pets, Dogs, Cats, Guinea pigs, rabbits and even fish!

We now know the best and most efficient course of action is to raise funds. This will enable us to buy canvass pet carriers (as they fold down flat and are lighter to transport), leads, collars, harnesses, bandages, pet boots (as dogs' paws are so sore and raw from the miles of travelling they have so far endured with their owners) etc. These will be transported directly by plane with us to the border; this will be the most speedy course of action to ensure the supplies get there asap!

Ultimately this will involve us paying for the extra luggage. We will be travelling with all the above and transporting at the other end in Poland to the border, which is not far from the airport we will land at to get it directly where it’s needed!

Any monies raised and leftover from the above purchases will be distributed to the ADA Foundation charity fund.

We know that with the fantastic support of all of you, we can, together, start to help make what seems like a small (in the scheme of things) but significant difference to these families' lives right now!
