Help Support Jacob's Recovery

Jacob, our beloved Director of Operations and Business Development and a dedicated dance instructor at Latin Street, was involved in a serious accident on Friday, 7/26/2024 around 5:30pm. While commuting on a scooter, Jacob was hit by a car running a red light at the intersection of Highway 94 and Taylor Street. He was immediately transported to the trauma ICU at Cook County Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for severe injuries, including multiple breaks and fractures in his arm, a shattered elbow, and a burst vertebrae which is causing compression of his spinal cord. He will require multiple surgeries on the arm, including plastic surgeries to reconstruct the elbow, and will also require a spinal fusion to secure his vertebrae.

Jacob has dedicated himself to promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a strong, connected community. His efforts to become a good leader are evident in his continuous self-education and commitment to personal growth. Specifically, Jacob's passion for the Brazilian Zouk community worldwide and locally in Chicago is undeniable. He has been instrumental in promoting the growth of Zouk nationwide through his events as well as right here in Chicago with Future Zouk. He is a loved DJ, instructor, mentor and organizer to so many.

As Jacob focuses on his recovery, we at Latin Street, a leading Latin dance studio in Chicago, are raising funds to support him during this challenging time. We are reaching out to our cherished Latin dance community and beyond for help. All donations will go directly to covering Jacob's medical expenses and other recovery-related costs such as physical therapy, medical equipment, and daily expenses.
