On October 11, 2024, The Painted Buffalo Homestead fell victim to a devastating barn fire while Jess and her family were away. By the time they returned, it was clear that the barn was beyond repair, with many of their beloved supplies and animals lost.

Among the heartbreak, three pigs—Littie, Copper, and a little piglet—sustained serious burns and require ongoing vet care. Countless chickens, quail, and ducks are also gone, leaving Jess and her family in shock and heartbreak.
