Aid Joy's Fight Against Cancer's Financial Burden

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to rally support for someone truly special — my incredible mom/aunt Joy. ❤️

Joy is an incredible single mother of four. Even though Mason is now an adults, due to his autism he still lives with her and depends on her support. Allie, is getting ready to graduate high school, and Rumer will graduate next year. Sarah Brett lives nearby and is doing what she can to help. Despite all life has thrown her way, Joy has always been a steady, loving, and fierce presence for her family. I seriously don’t know what any of us would do without her.

If you’ve had the privilege of knowing Joy, you know she’s the kind of person who always shows up. She is selfless, compassionate, and the first to stand up for what’s right. She’s protective of those she loves, and she gives everything she has to make sure her kids feel safe and supported.

Over the last year, Joy has been through a whirlwind of medical challenges. After dealing with long-term COVID complications, she was diagnosed with a condition called Sarcoidosis, which led to a long treatment involving steroids and a lung biopsy. Thankfully, treatment helped — but during follow-up scans, her pulmonologist found something unexpected that rocked us: a mass on her kidney. This mass was our worst fears, cancer.

We are beyond grateful that her medical team acted quickly. Thanks to their urgency, Joy’s kidney cancer was caught early. But in order to treat it, she had to undergo major surgery to remove the kidney on March 25th. She's now recovering at home and doing her best to stay strong while we wait on follow-up scans in a few months. Thankfully, her doctors are confident, and we’re holding on to that hope.

As you can imagine, the medical bills have piled up — and with Joy needing to take extended leave from work to heal (especially being immune compromised and working in the medical field), the financial stress has become overwhelming. She’s done what she can to work from home when possible, but healing takes time, and life doesn’t pause.
We’re asking for help — whether it’s $5, $50, or just sharing this with others. Every little bit counts and helps lift the weight off her shoulders. If you prefer not to donate via GoFundMe, feel free to DM me for Venmo or Cash App info.

Thank you so much for standing by Joy during this time. She’s given so much to the people in her life — now it’s our turn to give back to her.
