Aid Lillian: Homelessness and Health Crisis
Donation protected
I was illegally evicted with no legally required notice and forced out of my home in December. I am a physically & chronically disabled transgender individual in Texas who is currently on FMLA leave - I have been having to do frequent physical therapy & treatments for a work-related podiatric injury. I am now homeless and left with no funds to find new housing for the time being, as Blue Cross Blue Shield has been taking months to pay me out for my disability insurance case.
I own two cats that are the love of my life. They mean everything to me. Thankfully, I have a friend who is keeping them safe for me while I look for permanent housing. However, I need to be able to compensate her for cat food & litter costs. My cats have a special diet and use silica crystal litter, so I estimate the monthly cost around $100.
I had to place my personal items and furniture into a storage unit. That unit costs $129 per month and charges on the 16th of the month.
My podiatrist and physical therapy appointments cost $50 per visit. I have to visit both at least once per month to remain on disability leave. No, I cannot seek a new job while being in the process of receiving FMLA leave or disability insurance - that is not legal.
I'm going to have to replace most of my kitchen items including cutlery, bowls & plates, cups, cooking utensils, pots and pans, and cleaning/dishwashing supplies. This will likely cost $100-200.
Once I find a permanent housing situation, I estimate moving costs for my stored items to be around $300-400 depending on time and distance.
I am still having to pay for all of my necessary personal items (such as food, toiletries, medication, etc) during all of this. I am on 5 daily medications for my health conditions (POTS, digestive disease, bipolar II) that total to around $80 per month.
Awful timing with health concerns means that I am also needing funds to pay for a colonoscopy. I have multiple digestive diseases and am at risk for developing esophageal, stomach, and colorectal cancers. I'm currently experiencing symptoms (which began in November) that warrant biopsies to check for cancer or precancerous conditions. My last combination colonoscopy/endoscopy was $800 in 2022, so that is what I'm expecting to pay this time too.
All of this funding will be used to support myself while I am waiting for my disability insurance payout, and will go towards securing permanent housing & necessities. This is not a position that I ever wanted to be in, and I want to get back to how my life was before this ASAP.
I greatly appreciate any and all donations, assistance, and sharing of this campaign.
Thank you,
Lillian
