Aid Marjani & Everett's Fire Recovery
Donation protected
We are 7NMS | Marjani Fortè-Saunders + Everett Saunders, and have experienced a devastating losses in the Eaton Canyon Fire, while living with our parents in Altadena, CA. We were subletting our home in Pasadena for supplemental income and to manifest our residency for Black Artists - Art x Power. At the end of our lease in Brooklyn, NY, we packed 17 suitcases/boxes of our most important things, to stay with parents as Marjani fulfilled a residency this semester at LMU. All of these things, including irreplaceable paperwork, hard drives, and jewelry, burned with our parents' home in Altadena, CA.
Additionally, our home in Pasadena, where our studios are located, experienced extensive wind and smoke damage, that will take significant time and resources to repair. Gratefully, that home is still standing.
We retreated to that home at the onslaught of the fires in Altadena but were all forced to evacuate due to harmful air quality and continued burning. That location is still not safe, so we can no longer take refuge there.
After assessing some of our needs, we created this list so you understand how your support is being used:
- Repair the AxP Home & Studios from wind and smoke damage
- Purchase toiletries, clothes, underwear, socks, sneakers, and basic goods for living.
- Replace our son’s school supplies, clothing, Lego and Transformer collection- for the “mini-engineer” in our lives. :)
- Replace 2TB hard drives - material on these drives is irreplaceable but we’ll need to begin transferring from our computers and online platforms ASAP.
- Replace fitness equipment (yoga balls, yoga mat, thera band, tennis ball, tiger balm, roller, sports bras, yoga pants, etc.)
- $$$ donations are most helpful as there are losses that have not yet been calibrated as well as expenses incurred through this sudden transition, i.e., eating, medicine copays, building materials, building labor, etc.
We know we can't fundraise for everything. We also understand that no matter what, this transition will be hard and unbearable at times. But we are grateful for our lives, our bodies, our Familyhood and our community. Your small CashApp/Venmo/Zelle offerings have been so deeply helpful in the pivot, shock, and immediate needs of this disaster.
Thank you for your support and contributions to this GoFundMe. Thank you for helping us move forward.
