Aid Maurice Powell's Family After Sudden Passing

Trucker Dad of 14 Kids Found Dead On I-75 Highway on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Maurice Powell, 49 years old, from Atlanta, Georgia, married for 24 years and trucking for 20 years, was found unalive on his way home after passengers in traffic complained about a big rig being stuck between two lanes for about 16 to 20 minutes, delaying more traffic. Maurice was pulled from the truck by Cobb County firemen who tried effortlessly to save him instantly, but he was pronounced dead at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
He was the sole provider for his family and he worked hard every day until the day he died. Unfortunately, he had no death insurance because his goal was to build a successful career in trucking to provide financial stability to take care of his family, so much that he couldn't imagine a moment where he would pass before he actually could achieve it easily. His wife stated that this death is very devastating for her and the children because they recently lost their oldest daughter in a car accident in 2021.
Maurice was a trucker for 20 plus years. He worked 12 years on his last job, but this job never offered medical insurance or death benefits in the event of his death. He worked long hours on the road, averaging at least 65 to 80 hours a week. His consistency and reliability, along with his down-to-earth personality, titled him one of the most loved truckers in Georgia. EVERYBODY LOVED MAURICE ❤️ His death was sudden and damaging to everything he was working hard for. It feels like the world has stopped, his wife says. That man was everything to us. For 24 years, he stood by me and took care of all his children. His youngest son is 6 years old and he cries for daddy through the night because he doesn’t understand why daddy is never coming home again.
The family has plans to stand from this hard fall, of course leaving honor and respect on Maurice’s legacy as a loving husband and devoted father. The family wants to leave a message for everyone reading this: YOUR HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR MONEY. In a trucker’s world, more time is always labeled as way more money! But try to remember that all the money in the world won’t heal the pain of the heartbreak your loved ones have to go through. The family appreciates any donations given at this time. The funds will go directly to the family. He was a very good man and our love for him will never go away.
