Help supermom of 4 battling rare heart condition
Donation protected
In 2021, Jeffrey’s sister and my dear friend, Melissa suffered a heart attack one week after giving birth to her youngest son, Connor. She continues to have Refractory Vasospastic Angina, a rare condition that causes severe pain due to spasms in her coronary artery. The spasms cause extreme pain in her chest, back, arms, and jaws. Each episode leaves her exhausted. This has caused her to have to stop working as a hairstylist.
As if that wasn't enough, she has to make regular trips to the Cleveland Clinic, which requires a hotel stay each time, travel expenses, and time off for her husband. The medical bills continue to grow with no end in sight, and shifting from a two-income household to one income has become an enormous financial strain.
She will be starting a new, painful, and extremely expensive treatment at Cleveland Clinic in the hopes she will respond well and be a viable candidate for corrective surgery.
Although Melissa has always worked as a stylist, the word "homemaker" truly defines her. Her love, loyalty, nurturing nature, and boundless creativity have created a safe, beautiful home where her kids and husband can thrive. She has always inspired me, as the mom I wish I was.
While she felt uncomfortable asking for help at first, she has always been the first person to help someone else.
Although the arrival to recovery seems distant right now, my hope is that, as a community, we can make the journey a little smoother.
