Aid Michael Hinchliffe's Fight with end stage heart failure
Donation protected
I never thought in a million years I would ever need to set up a GoFundMe but, life has thrown me a curveball. My baby brother Michael Hinchliffe is only 44 years old and is the most laid back, chilled person you will ever meet. Those of you who know him, already know he would give the shirt off his back for anyone.
Mike was just 16 when our father passed away. Although he couldn’t step in as “man of the family” at that time, he has done that and more in the years that followed. Our mother was in a toxic relationship 15 years ago; Mike bought a house and moved her in with him. Our mom is now elderly and disabled and Mike has been her caregiver for all these years without a complaint. (well maybe a few lol). When our sister passed unexpectedly, he kept us all grounded. Mike put his own personal grief aside to make sure we all were going to be OK. He is a wonderful uncle to my kids. I would move the world for Mike if I could.
Mike is an auto detailer. When Covid hit, the auto industry took a big hit. Detailing is all he has done for the past 20+ years. With limited skills that apply to other fields, he took on a number of odd jobs to keep a roof over our mom’s head and the necessary bills paid. I took a second job, part time, to help with the bills as much as possible. Mike would do the same for me if the tables were turned.
On June 23rd everything changed. Mike was not feeling well, and I took him to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ. Doctors there announced he was in congestive heart failure. After a week, Mike was transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ. He remains in the ICU @ Our Lady of Lourdes. Anyone may call to confirm his patient status. The plan is to get him strong enough for open heart surgery to install a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). Hopefully, Mike can then become healthy enough for the heart transplant list.
We have filed for Mike’s Social Security Disability but are told the wait could take months. With Mike being in the hospital and unable to work, bills are mounting.
Currently, I am commuting back and forth to care for him and our disabled mother. This of course limits the time I can work my second job and we worry about the bills being paid.
I started this fundraiser in hopes to take some stress off of him so he can focus on getting better, and I can focus on making sure he continues to fight. I will post updates on his condition here and receipts once the many bills are paid.
He has a long road to recovery. Thank you and most of all just keep him in your prayers.
