On June 10, 2024, Mr. Biotte was rendered unconscious and fell into a coma for several days as a direct result of a violent shooting that occurred at 431 NW 3rd Street, Miami, FL 33128-1675. Mr. Biotte sustained critical injuries, having been shot twice, once in the throat and subsequently in the stomach by tenant Mr. Juan Francisco Figueroa. To exacerbate the situation, Mr. Figueroa allegedly set the building on fire, leaving Mr. Biotte for dead, unconscious and unable to escape the flames. Mr. Juan Francisco Figueroa also left 15 tenants who lived at 431 NW 3rd Street, Miami, FL 33128-1675 homeless and with nowhere to go.
Mr. Biotte’s injuries were life-threatening and required immediate hospitalization, where he remained from June 10 through July 11, 2024, battling for his life. He continues to face a long and arduous journey to recovery. The injuries to his throat and stomach alone have required multiple surgeries, prolonged intensive care, and ongoing rehabilitation. His ability to return to a normal life has been severely compromised, and he is expected to endure months, if not years, of rehabilitation. The emotional toll of being both a victim of violence and a survivor of a near-fatal attempted murder and fire further complicates his overall healing process.
Not only was Mr. Biotte’s life jeopardized by the shooting and the subsequent fire, but he also faces profound physical, emotional, and financial challenges on his path to recovery.
