Aid My Best Friend in Car Crash Recovery

It's Robyn (he/they) and I’m making this GoFundMe on behalf of my childhood best friend, Leandra (she/her).
Leandra is a proud Dominican Afro-Latina, artist, self-starter, and my sister.
Last month, in the beginning of September of 2020, she got into her second serious car accident, barely a year after getting into her first car accident, which left her with a frightening and persistent concussion. This most recent accident left her car totaled, her economic status at a level of financial disadvantage, and physically disabled.
All this has led to her having to deal with the back-and-forth affairs of the health care and legal system while also trying to attend to her health and wellness. Some of these things include: attending physical therapy, prioritizing and following with the doctor’s orders of being in bedrest which prevents her from working, and keeping up with bills and unavoidable administrative tasks that resulted from the accident.
I am creating this GoFundMe because Leandra is in need of financial support while she attends to her healing and recovery. She is a self-starting artist, essential worker, and contributing member of her family's household. The current economic and social situation surrounding COVID-19 further exacerbates her and her family’s pressing need as this situation has unfortunately added more to the hardships.
For the purpose of transparency, I list a fraction of the expenses that require coverage below:
$4,000 goes to replacing her totalled car, as that was the original value of the car.
$1,020 goes to paying for the ambulance that was called for her.
$150 goes to paying for the walking cane and wheelchair she’s had to purchase.
$270 goes towards paying one of the many doctor’s bills that she recently received.
This roundup is the minimum of the financial aid she requires and anything else that is gained will go to other expenses relating to the cause. Leandra, to this day, is still receiving bills and has recently been advised to find a lawyer for the situation, so we suspect that additional funds will be necessary in the near future if there happens to be a case that needs further moving along.
If anyone knows her like I do, you know that Leandra is a strong and capable woman. She never asks anything from anyone, she hustles for her dreams, and always cares for her family and friends. As her best friend, I want to help in relieving her of some of that burden so that she can receive the care and support that she needs.
