It’s difficult to ask for help right now, but I’m in a dire situation that I can’t seem to get out of.
Last year, I was unexpectedly forced to find a new living situation. Although I was able to secure an apartment, rent and cost of living exceeded my disability income. I needed to buy basic supplies to live on my own, and a variety of solutions to address a spider infestation that my landlord refused to resolve. Earlier this year, Apollo required surgery and several more vet visits. My income was then decreased to 58% of what I had previously been receiving due to complications with private disability insurance.
In July, my apartment was damaged due to a leak-turned-burst-pipe and 90% of my belongings were destroyed— even worse, there was a mold/mildew problem that caused serious complications to my health. There is even a chance that infection from mold exposure could have caused my myocarditis which landed me in the hospital in May, and sent me to the ER twice after.

My insurance claims that none of my belongings were covered in the incident because it was due to landlord negligence, and my landlord has claimed it on her own insurance as a sudden pipe burst at no fault of her own, so her policy referred me back to my own insurance for coverage. While I have made reports to the city and state, they are slow moving and have not made any progress.

(After fixing.)

(The original pipe.)
Furthermore, my landlord ignored my request for reasonable disability accommodation, when it came to the process of removing my damaged property and disposing of it. I accumulated hundreds in moving/dumping fees.

(One of the many items with visible mold.)

(After first day of removal.)
I’ve maxed out my credit, and I can’t qualify for another apartment with what I bring in from SSDI. There is no assistance available to me in PDX. Everything is at capacity due to the homelessness crisis.
A women’s shelter would force me to get rid of my dogs. They are the only reason I’ve had to hold on this long. Apollo has been with me for over 16 years.

CPTSD from enduring 32+ years of abuse while disabled, in addition to my previous living situation, has left me with a phobia of living with anyone else. The thought of it alone induces panic attacks. So, the entire situation has been tearing me up inside.
What’s more, I no longer have transportation. Public transit isn’t currently an option, as I can’t walk long distances. My doctor has refused to assist me with getting a wheelchair. Uber/Lyft costs a money that I don’t have. I can’t even get a lift to my doctor appointments.
Whatever money I had left, I put into fixing up a small motorhome. (It was affordable, but also turned out to have black mold - so, investing in fixing it was the only option.) The process was meant to take a week, but turned into three months. In the meanwhile, I had to cover the cheapest Motel 6s I could find, but the long term cost climbed to about 3.5x what I had been paying for rent.
The work done fell short of expectations, exceeded my budget, and cost me nearly as much in lodging fees. It’s cost me even more to fix what has been done wrong, and it’s far from livable - but as of November 15, I had no choice but to move into the motorhome for full time living.
My house battery needs to be replaced, so I can’t use the generator without starting my engine. My engine’s batteries have stopped responding. My heat doesn’t work without battery. My fridge has broken over the bast few days.
Right now, it’s windy, raining, and 45 degrees. My dogs and I are stranded without heat in a grocery store parking lot. I can’t get towed until the morning, but I only have $20 to my name.
I don’t know where else to turn. My family were my abusers, so they are not an option. That is why I need your help. ANY help, no matter how small. Please.
Thank you.

Potential Goals:
+$90/night average for motel stay (with fees etc) until RV is fixed
+$1000 misc materials cost to complete RV interior
+$200 propane valve repair
+$2000 battery replacement, alternator replacement, A/C repair, brakes repair, etc
+$3850 would allow me to install solar into the RV so that I don’t have to worry as much about my extreme sensitivity to heat making me sick - I’m much less likely to run out of power while running the A/C. (I very much realize that this is a dream goal, yes.)
1 week motel ($630) + materials + propane valve + cab repairs = $3830
+ solar = $7680
If your generosity were to somehow exceed these goals, I would put it toward replacing some living necessities that were damaged.
I have every intention of using what has been contributed in the most responsible way possible, and I am committed to providing updates along the way.
