Aid Nicky, a Trans POC, with Student Loan Debt

My name is Nicky Ishaak, I'm a student at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, and I've been proudly out as a transgender man since 2017. I create this GoFundMe from a place of embarrassment, lack of pride, and feeling of failure. But as these feelings overwhelm me I remind myself that it is not my fault that these are the measures I must take in order to find some financial solace. I'm suffering from crushing and continuously growing student loan debt. This debt comes from federal and private loans. Unfortunately, the private loan forces me to begin paying back the sum immediately. I'm financially independent meaning I do not rely on my parents or other family to support me financially. I have a father that is not accepting of my gender identity and it has created an unstable living situation for me for the past 3 years. My mother is mentally incapacitated and suffers from severe bi polar disorder, therefore she is unable to maintain a job and assist me financially I've always been able to hold a job, and have prided myself on being financially independent, but this pandemic has impacted me greatly. As the Fall semester draws nearer I become increasingly stressed because that means I will have to withdraw another sum for tuition that will add to the grand total of the loan. I know my situation is not unique, roughly 45 million Americans are impacted by student loan debt. Higher education must be free, but until then, I firmly believe in the power of mutual aid. I am extremely appreciative of anyone who donates any amount. Although I can't offer monetary aid in return, I do know the experience of being a transgender POC in this world and want to offer my friendship to anyone who is transitioning, needs help finding HRT,  and names of surgeons willing to perform GRS.
