Help Paul Heal: Support His Recovery Journey

Hi, my name is Karen Donlon, and I’m creating this GoFundMe to help my very dear friend Bev and her incredible son, Paul.

Paul is an amazing son, brother, boyfriend, and friend to so many. Many of you know that he has already endured heartbreaking losses—losing his father to Pulmonary Fibrosis and his brother to Epilepsy. Through it all, Paul has remained strong, hardworking, and selfless.

What some may not know is that Paul works tirelessly for a cabinet company but was unable to afford the high cost of insurance premiums. Recently, he faced a devastating health crisis due to diverticulitis. This led to a perforated colon in four places, requiring emergency surgery. His surgeon described it as one of the worst cases he had ever seen—just a few more hours, and Paul wouldn’t have survived.

The intense 5.5-hour surgery led to a three-week hospital stay and the need for a colostomy bag. He will have this bag for a minimum of six months. On top of the overwhelming medical bills, Paul has been unable to work for over a month and won’t be cleared to return until mid April. Even then, his journey is far from over—he will need another major surgery in six to twelve months to reverse the ostomy.

Paul has always been the type of person to show up for others. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him. We’re raising funds to help cover the cost of his life-saving medical procedures and his unpaid time off work during this difficult recovery.
