Aid Renee and Kathy in Overcoming Flood Damage
Donation protected
Hi, Leah here, writing on behalf of my dear, dear friend-sister-mentor, Renee and her wife Kathy at an incredibly difficult time. 2024 has brought wave upon wave of hardship for this sweet family - each month they have faced a new tragedy. They have drained their resources to survive it all; all while continuing to show up for others, serve their community in deep and meaningful ways, and bringing gentleness and love to those around them.
As many of you reading this know, there was a devastating flood that occurred in the early morning hours of August 6th. Homes that have never before been within reach of a flooding Mendenhall River were hit and Renee and Kathy's house was one of them. Renee, Kathy, and their kitty are safe and they have a place in their home that was untouched by water so they count themselves lucky, in the grand scheme of things. Renee and Kathy have been honored at the outpouring of love from the community they love so deeply. They shared with me that there "hasn't been even a moment" they've felt alone - text messages, calls, hauling, cleaning, hugs - have all helped to sustain them during this overwhelming time.
Unfortunately, as they are sifting through the damage, processing the trauma and grief of such an event, and taking good care of each other there are bills mounting. Among the expenses they face are a totaled car, a ruined boiler, a watered-down tank of oil that will need to be drained and re-filled, and obviously cleaning and repair supplies to fix or replace the damaged floors and appliances. Asking for any kind of help is difficult - they were unsure about taking this step but they realize it is necessary in getting their feet underneath them so they can start to heal and put their life back together.
Thanks for considering sharing this fundraiser and/or donating to this special family - big love to you all!
